'Resilience in Bloom' is part of an ongoing series where I paint strong and sensitive portraits of mixed race and black women in harmony with blooming florals.
Why? Because I wish I had seen more art like this when I was a little girl and I felt like the only way to be accepted in society was to adhere to a westernised image of beauty.
